Formed in 2016, RuHaa! first came together in Russell Hall on the University of Georgia’s fine campus. After performing at Russell Hall’s annual talent show, our performances went so well that we decided we had a future as a band. To honor our birthplace, we created our name RuHaa! based on the abbreviation for this residence hall. We are a five-person group comprised of one lead singer (Emily Olson), two guitarists (Zach Watkins and Cristian Gutierrez), a bassist (Logan Grailer), and a drummer (Nick Zimmer). In the two years that we have been together as a band, it has been a wild ride. Because everyone brings different skills and music tastes to the group, we have a lot of influences that uniquely shape the music that we create. Some of these influences include The Black Keys, The White Stripes, Janis Joplin, and Weezer. Therefore, our genre is a fusion of several and can best be described as blues-alternative rock. So far, we have written six original songs and we are currently working on new music. As a local band, we have played at many venues in downtown Athens, including Caledonia Lounge and Creature Comforts. Additionally, we have had an awesome time playing for fraternity parties and philanthropy events for campus organizations and Greek life. In April 2018, we released our debut EP, Ready to Go, which includes our first four originals, and is available on all major streaming services including Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud. We would love for you to listen to our music, and we hope you enjoy it! We are always looking to collaborate with other artists and for opportunities to perform at new venues.
