A veteran of Lilith Fair, she has sung on stage with Sheryl Crow, the Dixie Chicks and Sarah McLachlan. She’s been the opening act for musical artists as diverse as Loudon Wainwright III, The Wailers and Tuck & Patti. Her CDs include Under Your Heart, produced by Michael C. Maggie Hunter began singing with the bluegrass band The Warblers in 1990. They were lucky enough to appear on NPR's Mountain Stage and play at bluegrass festivals with the likes of Doc Watson and Ralph Stanley. She has been playing and recording with The Solstice Sisters since 1994 and is the host of WUGA's Just Folks, a weekly radio program. In her other life, she teaches 6-9 year olds at Athens Montessori, leads the Montessori Singing Circle and feeds dogs, chickens, a snake, a tortoise, 2 finches and a hairless guinea pig on a daily basis.
Susan Staley plays in the singing trio The Solstice Sisters, the early jazz-styled, six-piece band The Hobohemians, and in the old-time fiddle band String Theory. She also books the music at the Athens Farmers Market and also hosted the Athens Folk Music and Dance Society's music variety show The Hoot for many years.
SJ Ursrey is a classically trained singer who taught herself how to play the world’s friendliest instrument- the small but mighty ukulele. She sings opera, rock-n-roll, R&B, show tunes, folk, jazz, and whatever spooky style that is in her main gig, Honeychild. She’s sung with Dark Meat, Dream Boat, Hope for Agoldensummer, Kishi Bashi, Hayride, with tons of other awesome musicians and at lots and lots of karaoke parties. She teaches yoga at Five Points Yoga and sings in savasana everytime because if she doesn’t, she gets hate mail. She’s also been acting on some TV shows. Stay tuned!
